This facilitated online course by the University of Pennsylvania teaches how to diagnose social norms, and how to distinguish them from other social constructs, like customs or conventions. The course is 4 weeks long beginning on September 12th, 2016, with around 2-3 hours of study per week. The course costs $49 to enrol if you wish to receive a certificate on completion, although resources are accessible for free without certification.
This is Part 1 of the Social Norms, Social Change series. In these lectures, the course will introduce all the basic concepts and definitions, such as social expectations and conditional preferences, that help us distinguish between different types of social practices like customs, descriptive norms and social norms.
